Guadalupe Mountains National Park

Want to climb a mountain? Why not climb the tallest mountain in Texas at Guadalupe Mountains National Park?

To beat the heat, we woke up at dawn and spent 3 1/2 hours hiking up for 893 meters (2,929 feet) Guadalupe peek. The view at 2,667 meters (8,751 feet) was impressive. Martin searched for the elusive mountain lions without any luck.

We arrived back at our campsite in a cloud of heat. We found some relief at the laundromat in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Added bonus – we were able to get some clothes washed. 🙂

  1. We made it up to the top too! Left at 6:30am and got back at 11:20. So we decided to head over to Carlsbad Cavern and walk a few more miles… Tired and sore tonight. There was a new log book at the top for the month of June so we didn’t see your names.
