Big Bend National Park

Like all things in Texas, Big Bend National Park is huge. Driving across the park takes several hours (thankfully, the park has gas stations…). It encompasses an entire mountain range! A Mexican singer named “Jesus” (his quotation marks, not mine) will serenade you from Mexico as you walk along the Rio Grande in the Boquillas Canyon. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. You can even take a row boat to Mexico and pretend you are on a Gringo Honeymoon with Robert Earl Keen.

We loved exploring Big Bend and had intended to spend several days there…until we discovered a rare opportunity to see the sky through a 107 inch telescope at an observatory a few hours north of the park. So, we packed in all our Big Bend adventures in just 24 hours.
